Unleashing The Muse

I am constantly looking for the next adventure or experience to feed my muse. Well, last month’s “Girl’s Night Out” with my friend Nicole did the trick! We went to see Jennifer Nettles at The Beacon Theater.

Her performance was refreshing, fun and filled with many twists and turns, like when Sara Bareilles suddenly joined Nettles on stage. That totally made my weekend shine brighter. It kinda felt like I was sitting in Jennifer Nettles’ very large living room with all her close family and friends. She has a way of making you feel like you’re just part of the gang. To date, one of the best concerts I’ve experienced in a long time!

During the concert, the muse let loose! The timing could not have been more perfect. You remember the song I spoke of in my last post called, “Ready”, that Isaac and I co-wrote? Well, I was working on the lyrical content for it and I had come to a standstill around choosing a clear defined storyline for the song. But after being dunked into Nettle’s musical extravaganza, the focus came forward. I was writing down ideas left and right throughout the concert. After the concert, the creative juices continued. The next few days I wasn’t able to get a good night’s sleep. Thoughts, lyrics and melodies continued to feed my brain at the weirdest hours of the night, waking me from my sleep. This is why I love what I do. The song cannot be tamed when it’s ready to present itself.

Check out the article “The Country Scene” did on Jennifer Nettles. Too funny, I am quoted at the end of the article from sharing my experienec on Twitter.
