From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home
This blog will have you feeling fabulous in no time! If you have been in a funk, feeling like you’re not yourself lately or just feeling kind of out of balance, I promise you after reading this blog, you will find your way back to the fabulous, balanced and abundant person you truly are and always have been!
Let’s start with this quote from a great spiritual thinker, Earnest Holmes.“Mental hygiene is just as real as physical hygiene, and equally necessary. To be well one must be happy. To be happy one must have a sense of security. One must have confidence in himself, in those around him and in the universe itself. He must be unified with himself and with life.”
As human beings, we are all the same yet all different. We are all the same because we are all created with the ability to think and breathe. Where we all differ is in our individual experiences, good and bad, which at an early age, tend to follow us all the way into adulthood, and yes, all the way through old age. It’s up to each one of us to be aware of what is really going on inside of us so that we do not allow what happened, way back, to effect how we live right now in this very moment. The past is the past!
In “The Art Of Life” Holmes states, “Life exists in Its fullness at the center of our being. If it were never blocked, It would always flow through us as life, love, harmony, happiness and success.” But what happens when life’s flow is blocked by our own doing, subconsciously? Take me, for instance. At the age of 9, as I have mentioned in a past blog, my parents got divorced. While I was effected in one way, my sister was effected in another and my brother was effected in yet another way. All three of us grew up holding onto our own unique meaning that we subconsciously created behind the divorce and it defined who we would become. It would block certain areas in our mind, that would guide us towards roadblocks throughout our existence, rather than guide us towards the open flow of life leading towards love, harmony, happiness and success.
Everyone has this common thread in their lives. It’s there, both happiness and unhappiness. But until we actually see that both options are there, we don’t get to make the change in our minds. In a way, I was “out of my mind” for many a day. We all have good days and bad days but there is this underlining way of life that we lead, day in and day out. Once we see that our past has been leading the way we choose how we live our lives every single day, it is then that we get to chose if we would like to shift our thought patterns. Just think about all the choices we’ve made thus far in life. From every decision we’ve made regarding what jobs, what relationships and what health decisions we have chosen over the years. Were they healthy choices or were they choices that we made because we were protecting our past baggage and the crosses we were so comfortably carrying around with us for so many years, holding on for dear life of what that identity looked like, rather than letting that person go and allowing LIFE TO FLOW so we could get what LIFE has to offer us AT ALL TIMES.
Here’s the thing. “There is an infinite reservior of Life within us. We may block Its passage; we may shortcut Its current, but the reservoir is still there and the flow is always ready to resume its course when we re-open the channels.” Holmes totally hits it right on the nail! And while it took me years and years to get this, to actually give myself an opportunity to be happy, to let life back into my living, or surviving, I did get it! And once I did, I saw that I am just here to allow life’s flow in and out of me, like electricity. And by allowing this natural flow, I am able to “just be me” and then live my life, now. And, when the bad days come in, I am still ok! I know it’s the flow and ebb of the inner workings of me. I know that I can now recognize the two figures locked inside of my body. It’s kinda like the devil and the angel. The devil is the unhappiness and the angel is the happiness. They are both inside of us. They are both there to do their job. “Our problem is not with Life itself, but with the use we are making of it.” So, I get to notice both of them and then I get to ask The Universe or my Higher Power to please let me be guided by the angel, by happiness, and to release the other part of me, the unhappiness, so I get to have the balance, the clarity and the peace of mind I need to make healthy and self loving decisions for myself. The fear always stays there, but it’s how I use that fear to power my life that now makes all the difference!
To end with, I am clear, through my own experiences, that when we get the clarity of who we are, and we see stuff we don’t like about ourselves, we don’t need to make ourselves wrong for it or whip ourselves into shape. We don’t need to judge others. Of course it’s much easier to judge people for their defects of character rather than face up to our own demons and work on those to see the light. But having courage to move through the fears, rather then letting them hold me down and stop me from being the person I was put on this planet to be, opens up the channel for life to flow through me naturally once again. I challenge you to be willing to let go of the past, of the ego, of comparing and judging. When I find myself judging someone or getting angry at what another does, I ask myself why am I feeling this? It has NOTHING to do with the other person. It has to do with me! It has to do with my expectations, my need to control or my seeing something in that person that I actually relate to very well and now that I see how it looks outside of me, I really don’t like how that looks. So, I get uncomfortable. I want to judge that person so I don’t have to change myself.
Well, I now say, “No thank you!” I like this life I have been leading for the past two years now. It’s a gift. It’s freedom to “just be”. Life can flow through me as it chooses and even when I get stopped and maybe have a bad day, I know Life is there waiting for me to open up the channel again. I am proof that when you let go of the past, the experiences with people become softer, calmer and more authentic. Life becomes more enjoyable and decisions start being made according to what’s good for me, not what the past wants me to go towards. Face it, we are all flawed. So what! No big deal. That is what being human is all about. So in accepting that fact, and then being courageous to move towards the awareness and willingness to shift your thinking pattern, life truly becomes pretty awesome, even on those stressful, crazy and judging days. Oh ya, being aware is like finding a true treasure!
You know, this blog series has brought me to see that life is about “just being myself”. I get to simply notice my faults, my flaws and the ups and the downs, and then, I get to shift my way of thinking, as needed, day in and day out until it becomes a part of my natural thought process. And patience is key! So, I am not here to judge myself or to judge you. I am clearly here to do my best and be the best person I can be. And I hope that that is enough to shift a person or two into seeing things in a different light, one that shimmers and excites you to move onto a new place in your mind, body and soul! Am I “Out Of My Mind”? Not anymore! How about you? Up for the challenge? Come on… what do you have to loose? What do you have to gain? Hmmmmm.
Ok, we are one more step closer to finding Pinocchio a home….
