From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home Do you have a passion? Do you dream about what it would be like to be that amazing person you truly are, not only behind closed doors, but in front of everyone you encounter? What happens when our dreams and goals get sidetracked by FEAR? Well, I have been reading a powerful book called “Good To Great” by Jim Collins and I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a great passion for something they truly believe in. “Good To Great” speaks about many obstacles that stop people from going from being good to truly being great! I am gonna focus on one topic that Jim speaks of in chapter 5 which really hit home for me entitled, “The Hedgehog Concept”. So basically there is a famous essay called “The Hedgehog and the Fox” and the story goes that while the fox knows many things, the hedgehog knows one big thing. The fox tries every possible angle to catch the hedgehog, but every single time, the hedgehog comes out alive because it simply rolls up into a “perfect little ball” becoming a “sphere of sharp spikes, pointing outward in all[…]

Blog #23: “Out Of My Mind”
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home This blog will have you feeling fabulous in no time! If you have been in a funk, feeling like you’re not yourself lately or just feeling kind of out of balance, I promise you after reading this blog, you will find your way back to the fabulous, balanced and abundant person you truly are and always have been! Let’s start with this quote from a great spiritual thinker, Earnest Holmes.“Mental hygiene is just as real as physical hygiene, and equally necessary. To be well one must be happy. To be happy one must have a sense of security. One must have confidence in himself, in those around him and in the universe itself. He must be unified with himself and with life.” As human beings, we are all the same yet all different. We are all the same because we are all created with the ability to think and breathe. Where we all differ is in our individual experiences, good and bad, which at an early age, tend to follow us all the way into adulthood, and yes, all the way through old age. It’s up to[…]
Blog #22: “Editing Is Everything”
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home So, a few months back, I took a songwriting course at Gotham Writer’s Workshop with Jody Gray. What a learning process! In that time, I practiced the “art” of songwriting, using the specific rules and tools given in each class. I was reminded of what humility and willingness truly means. I also found the courage to put aside my already learned techniques and self taught ways so that I could allow other songwriting methods in. I am so grateful I did. It has allowed yet another door to open to get me closer and closer to being a full time singer, songwriter, composer and performer. If I had to summarize the 10 week course into two sentence, here is what I would say. 1. Learn all the rules to the game so well that you never have to think about what to do again to craft a “GREAT” song, one that is universal and authentic! 2. Editing is everything. (Sure, the first draft is a great start, but that’s all it is! Once the first edit is in, that’s when the real fun begins!) What I found great about this class was[…]
Blog #21: I Live Through Music
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home So, I just wanted to tell you more about another project Pinocchio is on. As you know, I released “I Wanna Be Pinocchio” on July 4th and it’s been an interesting turnout thus far. I want to tap into this for a moment. Music has become this product that people consider “FREE”. As an artist, I am giving songs away monthly because I want people to listen and join me on this journey. But the truth is, without a team, a pretty solid team, behind me, it’s pretty darn challenging to make money just as an artist. I actually spent a few months searching for an intern and finally found the perfect match in June. I am very grateful to have her on board. Things are moving along very nicely since she started! So, anyway, I am not upset about my not having a big team behind me. Instead, I am using what I have and making it work, one step at a time.
Blog #20: I Love Lady Gaga’s “You And I”
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home Ok, sort sweet and to the point… I love this song by Lady Gaga! It’s called “You And I”. As a storyteller, it’s my job to listen to those around me and see what I like, what I don’t like and ask myself what is it that makes me feel alive? And what do you as a listener want to hear? It allows me to create for both you and I a song that is well crafted with universal themes that you just wanna hear over and over again. Well, “You And I” by Lady Gaga is one song I truly feel is a well crafted song in many ways. I liked it so much I covered it at my last show. Enjoy! See Ya Back Here Real Soon… Yup! One step closer to finding him a home! Love, Light & Great Tunes, Jen
Blog #19: It’s Happening! My Music Is Being Placed in “Sleeping With The Fishes”
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home Pinocchio is really excited right now… and so am I! I was working on Blog #19 yesterday while going to and coming from Ron’s studio. Ron is the producer I have used for the past two projects I have done: “A Very Jenny Christmas” and “I Wanna Be Pinocchio”. Anyway, that was the plan, until, I just got some awesome news a few hours ago. So that blog will have to be Blog#20! So, let’s see, what to say first! Well, I love working with Ron because he’s a breeze to work with and he is a kick ass producer, musician and everything in between. So, I went there to record ,”Getting Out Of My Own Way”, a song I have had in my repertoire for a while yet had not felt the need to record it professionally yet. And, it’s a good thing I didn’t because I actually ended up rewriting the song a few weeks back while I was taking a ten week songwriting class with a great teacher and mentor, Jody Gray. Anyway, I rewrote the song and then literally a week after I did my 6th[…]
Blog # 18: Am I A Woman
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home It’s a balancing act for me, as a woman, to take on both feminine and masculine qualities so that I can create abundance in all areas of my life. It makes it even more challenging when the pace of technology doesn’t seem to ever want to give me a break. Can’t those young brainiacs go be kids and just chill for a second instead of inventing the next best thing since “Facebook”? Stop advancing so quickly! Can’t we just sit and chat for a moment and not rush from here to there. Anyway, I know that’s life! So, as I accept being a part of this very fast pace and rat race of a world, I also accept the craziness that rushes in on a day to day basis. That’s why I must remind myself that I am a woman first, and while I do choose to take on a masculine role so that my vision can come to life, I do get to celebrate the beauty of being a woman every day of my life! So, here’s a song of mine I have never played out “live” until[…]

Blog #17: The Burglary – One Year Later
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home Before you go and take anything from someone, without asking… I ask you to think twice. This world is a beautiful place until we start to think we can just do whatever it is that we want. It is only through respecting ourselves that we can even begin to respect others. And when we hit the point where we ignore our feelings and deny the truth… beware.. danger is just around the corner… Last year, I experienced a burglary. The people involved left me with a a huge mess of my life, one that I would have to put back together, one day at a time. While I have been able to pick up the pieces and am grateful for those who stood by my side through the tragedy, I do not deny the fear that still rushes in, every time I leave my home, wondering if today is the day they decide to come back. But the truth of the matter is, this experience has made me that much stronger, reminding me that everything on earth is temporary, so I don’t hold on too tightly to[…]
Blog #16: Why I Need To Fail To Succeed
From The Blog Series… 365 Blogs To Finding Pinocchio A Home I know that making mistakes and failing is not a comfortable space to be in. I used to get extremely frustrated and depressed when things didn’t turn out the way I had planned. But a while ago, I was able and willing to see what failure really is and why it is something that I want to welcome into my daily life. Simply put, making mistakes and failing over and over again is the only way to succeed. As Ralph Waldo Emerson stated, “Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories.” I am starting to find success in every mistake and failure that comes about. I am also learning to not ponder over where it is I am supposed to start and just take an action, any action that, in some way, surrounds my creative vision. Simply starting something suddenly eliminates the fear of taking the risk because when I am in action, and not in my head, I am just doing something active, which then gets me clear on what the next action is that I need to take. But[…]
