Standing still, at first, is one of the most challenging activities to do. It feels like something is wrong. It makes you judge yourself and then start to judge others. It can be so unbelievably uncomfortable that you feel like crawling out of your own skin, if only you could.
But then, once you come to terms with accepting what is, and begin the process of authentically standing still, something beautiful starts to occur, little by little. You start to see the real you again; you begin to find your own worth; you start to see your own inner and outer beauty, no longer reaching for outside approval; clarity appears around what is truly important in your life.
And once clarity comes in, what is important may appear differently than what you originally saw it to be before you started to stand still. But once you’re exposed to the stillness and welcome in the silence with open arms, you can suddenly hear exactly what you need to hear, as if it was for the very first time. And from your willingness to be still, your spirit and soul get a chance to reconnect with your human body, allowing you to become a full human being, so to speak, once again. That is, until you are asked to be still again from life’s challenges.
It’s a process. It’s not easy. It takes patience and continued willingness. But it’s necessary to practice standing still at certain stages of life so that you have a fair shot at moving forward in life in your best light. That’s what I feel presently and wanted to share that in case it rings true with anyone right now.
