During my LA days I met lots of people in Santa Monica, Venice Beach and on Highland & Hollywood. Those where the spots I street performed daily. One day while I was performing on Venice Beach, I met this guy from the UK who was on holiday and who was also a musician. We hit it off right away and for the next few days I showed him around town. We had a blast! I’ll let you in on a little secret. Not too long after this magical and most memorable experience, a song popped out of me. I called it “He’s Like Strawberry Milk” and it will always have a special place in my heart. The song actually ended up on my second fully produced album “bend”!
So, back to the story! This English fella and I kept in touch, and wouldn’t you know it, a few months later he invited me to take trip to his neck of the woods, the city of Bath. What a beautiful place! I ended up street performing along The Abbey for the two weeks I was there. I can’t tell you how amazing the experience was. The people, the atmosphere, the baths!
Now, the funny thing that happened was that my friend, who was working at “What Guitar?” at the time, had set up a photo shoot for me the day I was to arrive. When I got there, he took me around town and showed me where I would be meeting up with him and the crew later on. Then I made my way back to his place to rest my head for a moment. That moment was much longer than expected!
All I remember is I woke up in a panic and tripped on everything around me in his place, quickly threw on some clothes, washed up very quickly and ran out the door. I prayed I would remember where the heck I was supposed to go. I was already thirty minutes late!
Well, long story short, it all turned out perfectly fine! The crew was running behind and when I finally got there, they were just about ready for me. What came from that shoot was this…
