Funny story about how I got introduced to Patty Griffin’s music. It was back in NY, while I was in Tower Records on the Upper West Side, many years back. I was in a spontaneous mood and decided to pick a cd of an artist I didn’t know. I wanted something that was 100% acoustic and raw. That’s what I was hoping to find; that’s where my head was at musically at that time.
Anyway, I walked up and down the sections in Tower Records until this one album that grabbed my eye.
The cover drew me in. Who was this person? What was her story? So, I bought the cd and took it home to listen to. WOW! That day I was introduced to a truly amazing songwriter, Patty Griffin! And what a gift; “Living With Ghosts” was 100% acoustic and oh so raw.
It’s become my favorite album of Patty Griffin’s. The heart, the soul, the passion, the feeling; it’s so on the edge of emotion and it’s just beautiful. I listened to that album over and over and over again. It taught me that the root to a great song is all about telling it like it is, straight from your heart.
Anyway, one of my favorite songs off that album is “Moses”. Here’s the full version for ya’ll to enjoy…
