I attended SERFA 2026 for the first time, which was held in Owensboro, KY at the end of May. There were so many talented songwriters. I had a handful of deep conversations with lots of laughs in between. There were too many songwriters to see them all but many were from our Nashville community, so I got to hang with lots of familiar folks either way.

Two highlights of the event for me were @yapakentucky & @kyshonamusic (our very own) giving such a powerful Keynote Presentation.
I also had such a wonderful time mentoring a handful musicians on Friday morning, where I offered my mentoring expertise in mindset coaching and career clarity for musicians who wanted to take advantage of it.

In addition, I participated in hosting a private room showcase one of the nights. Check out the artists from my room: Self-Healing, Self-Love & Rediscovery Showcase .

Last but not least, SERFA collaborated with AEA Ribbon Mics to record one take, single shot videos of several artists in our community during the SERFA 2026 Annual Conference in Owensboro, KY. I am so grateful to have been chosen for it. I am also grateful for AEA for their sponsorship and support of this effort. And now, with no further ado, here is the song they recorded of mine. It’s a new song called, “A Little Bird Told Me.”

A tiny bit more about me…
“Born and raised in The Bronx, I’m a singer-songwriter and guitarist with over 30 years of experience and sixteen ASCAP Plus Awards. My Final Night Hosting Open Mic At The Bowery Vault…
All things must come to an end at some point, to unfold the next beautiful journey ahead…
My final night hosting Open Mic Night at The Bowery Vault was on September 11, 2025. I’ve hosted it every second Thursday of the month for the last three years. It’s been such a great run! It was just time to step down and focus on two other projects in the works around music and my decluttering, organizing & mindset coaching business – JVTheCoach.com (more to be revealed around both in 2026).
With that said, it couldn’t have been a better end to my hosting experience. So many of our Nashville songwriting community came down to celebrate with me and share their beautiful hearts and songs with us. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. There were also a few new folks that dropped in. I’m glad they got to see the magic of The Bowery Vault.
In my opinion, The Bowery Vault is the best venue in East Nashville for gathering community and having fellow songwriters be such a positive support for each other.
Here are photos from that night in these two posts below:
