May’s Abundance

Ok, so now let me share all about what May’s abundance consisted of. It was like all this goodness was being sent my way, in every direction. Let me paint Y’all the picture to better explain it…

First, a friend of mine invited me to go see Vance Joy a week before my birthday at Ascend Amphitheater. It was a triple Pre-Birthday treat cause I hadn’t seen a show there yet, plus Vance Joy pulled out one of my favorite covers of all time, ‘All Night Long’ by Lionel Richie!

Then, the week of my birthday, I attended MusicBiz Conference 2018, held downtown at The Omni Hotel. All I can say is, “Wow”!
On top of all the information I learned, and all the generous minded folks I spoke to, I got to meet with a music supervisor and share some of my songs with him, plus be a part of the songwriting challenge where I had 25 minutes to come up with a verse and chorus to an already existing melody track, and then sing it allowed in front of the group. And, as an extra bonus, the group ended up singing Happy Birthday to me. It got leaked that it was my Birthday by the end of that session.

I also saw two of my icons, Dolly Parton and Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes)…

And I had the opportunity to have cocktails with my old time friend Kim Williams and Chas Sandford, who’s just an awesome person! He’s written a ton of hits but the one that brings me straight back to my childhood and puts a smile on my face is “Missing You”.

Some other entertaining moments were seeing Kelsea Ballerina perform a few songs, including “I Hate Love Songs” and having the lovely and talented Tegan Marie do an intimate performance during a breakout session. And a few inspiring moments came from hearing Colin Hanks, Scooter Braun and Nile Rogers share their stories and experiences throughout the years in the entertainment industry.

On my birthday a friend of mine posting this… which put a BIG smile on my face…

So, in a nutshell, I would say, my B-day week ended up being pretty spectacular!

My Birthday Bash at The Bowery Vault

Then, at the end of MusicBiz Conference, I finally got to celebrate my Birthday, officially, in the most fun way I know how; through music. On May 18th Holly Grace, Brittany Opperman and I hit the stage at my favorite boutique and lounge in East Nash; The Bowery Vault.

It was so much fun and I want to thank all of you who joined me us in the celebration. Holly made yummy cupcakes and I supplied chips, dip, cookies and brownies!

I performed most of my songs off the new album, “Rediscovering Me” that night, with Pete Pulkrabeck on Cajon and Braden land on Electric. Footage on the show will be coming in the next updates so stay tuned…

In The Studio…

So, I had the opportunity to demo three new songs at SAE studio with John the Shaman on May 24th. It went really well and I look forward to sharing those in a future update and getting feedback from Y’all!

Giving Back to the VA Community on Memorial Day…

I had the honor of performing for a room full of Veterans at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro on May 28th. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way.  Special Thanks to David Ladewig for the opportunity.

Seeing U2 at Bridgestone!

As if things couldn’t get any more awesome, my friend JT invited me to see U2 in concert at The Bridgestone Arena last minute. That was… WOW!

New Friends…

As we come to the end of June’s update, I wanted to share my encounters with these two lovable creatures. I was on a walk through Shelby Bottoms and I bumped into this new friend. It took everything inside of me to not take the cute little turtle home with me. I did put him on the other side of the path to save it a lot of the getting to the other side and avoid being step on in the process.

And deer have been a very big guiding tool and reminder for me over the years

that I am on the right path along my journey so it’s always a gift when they cross my path.

On My Mind…

You already have all you need inside yourself. It’s mind over matter.

Your glass is full. What’s stopping you now?

Well, there ya have it… See ya next month!

xx
